Your baby is almost 6 moths! After a newborn session, this is next natural time for milestone photos. Here are five photography ideas for 6-month-old babies:
Indoor Studio Photo Session for 6 Month Baby Pictures:
At this age, babies are beginning to sit on their own and are usually able to lay on their bellies and push up quite a bit. A studio setting allows for a clean place for baby to be in these poses without dirt, leaves, or rocks. The clean simplistic setting of a studio keeps the focus on the baby without distracting background elements. It also makes it easy for you to include a favorite blankie or toy without worry it will get dirty or lost.
In-Home Photo Session:
An In-Home Lifestyle photo session is a great way to capture the natural beauty of your baby if you did not do this for your newborn session. This type of shoot typically involves capturing the baby in their natural environment, such as in their nursery, living room, or outside in the backyard. This allows your daily life to be documented through photos in an extra special way that you will treasure long after your baby outgrows this short phase of life.
Themed Shoot for Baby:
If you want to get creative, a themed photoshoot can be a lot of fun. You can choose a theme that reflects your baby's personality or interests, such as a floral theme, a beach theme, or a sports theme. While these themes didn't work well for newborns that are so little, if your baby is sitting by 6 months this might be a fun way to show off their personality and your family's interests!
Family Photos for 6 Month Baby:
Capturing the bond between your baby and the rest of the family can be a heartwarming experience. There is no one baby loves more than you! So why not include your in their photos? We would include sibling photos, parent photos, family photos, and of course some of baby alone! Take this opportunity to not only update the photos of baby but also of your entire family during this fleeting phase of life!
Outdoor Photos for Baby:
While there is a sweet simplicity to studio portraits of a baby, there is something special about showing off the seasons outdoors as well. For Spring, sitting baby in a patch of brightly colored or pastel flowers can be beautiful! Family poses in front of a flowering tree are unique to that time of year as well. In Summer, the weather is warm enough for baby to wear a onesie comfortably showing off all of their little features in a natural setting. Fall makes another unique setting for baby to sit in a pile of leaves (we just have to photograph quick before the leaves are eaten!). With this season being opposite of their upcoming first birthday photos, it is a fun way to document life during a different season and backdrop.
